The Pregnant Nose

The other night I was lying in bed about to doze off when my wife hops in and asks, “Did you just sneeze?”

In a bit of a haze I said “No. Why?”

“It smells like someone sneezed.”

I thought maybe I was still half asleep and misheard her. “I’m sorry, what?” I replied.

She repeated herself and forced me to ask the obvious: “And what does a sneeze smell like?”

She then proceeded to try and explain the smell using what can only be described as a series of bear calls and choking sounds. If someone would have overheard her explanation they would have apprehensively thought to themselves “Oh my goodness, some poor old man is having trouble clearing his throat!”

I knew a woman’s sense of smell becomes heightened during pregnancy but I had no idea it would give her the ability to smell sounds…
